Pismo State Beach is located on the idyllic Californian coast, midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Conveniently located just off Highway 101, this beach serves as the perfect weekend getaway for anyone traveling from Santa Maria or even Bakersfield.

Pismo State Beach gets its name from the native Indian word "pismu," meaning tar. Originally inhabited by the Chumash Indians, the tribe would collect this versatile material from the springs in Price Canyon, and use it to seal their canoes. Although the area is no longer used for its tar producing properties, Pismo State Beach is a popular holidaying spot for those who rent an RV in California.

With a wide variety of recreational activities on offer such as clam fishing and surfing, as well as plenty of space to simply relax in the Californian sunshine, Pismo State Beach is a must-see destination!
