Getting Outdoors

Many people who go RV camping at Staunton State Park do so in the hope of spotting some of the diverse range of wildlife that lives in the park. Stay very quiet, and you have a good chance of glimpsing some incredible creatures, including black bear, moose, elk, mountain lion, coyotes, deer, fox, and a huge range of birds. Certain species prefer different conditions and times of the year, so do a little research and pack your binoculars and you never know how much you will see. Head to the visitors center for a range of interpretive nature programs and information.

Camping at Staunton State Park

Currently, the park only offers walk-in tent camping. However, there are plenty of places to go camping with an RV near Staunton State Park. Buffalo Campground is located at an elevation of 7,500 feet, with plenty of trails in the surrounding area. All sites come with picnic tables, campfire rings, and grills, and vault toilets are available. This primate camping experience will allow you to get closer to the great outdoors.

Exploring the Area

One of the most incredible places to explore when you camp in an RV near Denver is Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. The park has become a popular place for athletes to train. The fact that it is at a 6400-foot elevation makes it a pretty difficult place to work out. The amphitheater itself is built directly into the rock and has a capacity to fit almost 10,000 people.
