Mount Tom State Park is only about five minutes' drive away when you are camping at Cozy Hills Campground. It is located right next to Mount Tom Pond, where you can go fishing, swimming, and boating. Relax on the beach or explore the park by hiking or bicycling. The park has a beautiful view of the pond and offers nice shade if you like picnicking. In the park, you can also visit Mount Tom Tower, which is a favorite destination among hikers. Other activities in the park are kayaking, canoeing, and scuba diving.Wyantenock State Forest is less than 20 minutes' drive northwest of the campground. This beautiful park doesn’t have developed public areas, which is great if you like exploring on your own and enjoying nature and wildlife watching or photography. There are a few hiking trails in the park, or you can try hunting or mountain biking too. The forest is heavily wooded and covers over 4,000 acres of land.Topsmead State Forest is approximately 15 minutes' drive northeast of the campground, located right past the town of Litchfield, nestled in the hills. The forest is perfect for hiking, bicycling, and walking. There is a beautiful cottage in the park, which is a former estate of Miss Edith Morton Chase. The forest offers tours of the residence on certain days during the summer. The park also has picnic tables, so you can relax with your family. Other activities here are hunting, bird watching, and cross-country skiing.

Explore the City

With an RV rental in the area, you can travel around Connecticut and see the most popular attractions, including amusement parks, museums, and galleries. The amusement and water park in Middlebury is only about half an hour's drive from the campground. Here you can have a full day of fun with the whole family, enjoying thrill rides, water slides, and swimming pools. Some of the attractions include a laser maze, a zoo, a water coaster, and so much more. Lake Quassapaug is also open for visitors to enjoy, and they can go swimming, boating, or just relax on the beach with family and friends.Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is approximately an hour's drive south of the campground. The zoo houses endangered species and is committed to animal habitat preservation, research, and recreation. Here you can see many incredible animals, including Amur leopards, American alligators, bison, Amur tigers, bald eagles, and many more. The zoo offers educational programs, field trips for kids, and programs for teens. Kids will love Zoo Tots and Zoo Patrol programs designed only for them, where they get to interact with animals and go on a tour with a small group of children and a tour guide.Yale University Art Gallery is the gem of this world-famous university. Here you can enjoy the art of many incredible and well-known artists, including paintings, photography, sculpture, glass, and so much more. The collections feature ancient, Asian, European, and Native American art, as well as modern art. The gallery offers many educational programs for all ages, and not just for their students.
