This 22,000-acre park is one of the most significant natural and historic treasures in Florida. Floridas first state preserve, it is now a National Natural Landmark. There are diverse habitats that can sustain wildlife, livestock, alligators, bison, horses and more than 270 species of birds. A 50-foot-high tower near provides you with panoramic views of the preserve. Exhibits at the interactive visitor center explain the areas natural and cultural heritage. The crystalline and turquoise waters of Ichetucknee River flows six miles through shaded trees and wetlands and then it becomes a part of the Santa Fe River.
