Review summary

Unreliable in problem resolution
Initially praised for friendliness and flexibility, the host failed to honor promises for full refunds after major vehicle issues, stopping communication and making false accusations. Reviewers also reported undisclosed problems upon pickup and being overcharged for services.
Aged, frequently malfunctioning RV
The RV frequently shows significant age and neglect, often not matching listing photos. Common issues include a broken awning (often undisclosed), strong mildew odor, water damage (mattress, leaks), plumbing failures (full tanks, soft floor), missing power cord, and propane smells.

1.0If there was a zero star review that is what I’d select. Let’s discuss the pure ‘Catfish’ of a listing - What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend with friends turned into one of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. The problems began before we even left. During pickup, we were informed that the awning did not work and could not be used. This was never disclosed prior to arrival. The RV itself looked nothing like the listing photos. The online images presented a well-maintained camper, while the actual RV showed obvious signs of age, weathering, and neglect. It felt like a classic bait-and-switch. Upon entering the RV, we were immediately hit with a strong mildew odor. We attempted to make the best of the situation by running the AC, airing it out, and using room spray, but the smell persisted for the entire trip. While inspecting the RV before departure, we discovered that the main mattress was heavily water-stained, deteriorating, and falling apart. The window coverings above the bed were also severely stained from water damage. We immediately notified the owner and were told they were unaware of the issue, that it must have happened recently, and that we would be compensated. Trying to salvage our trip, I packed additional sheets to cover the mattress and we left for our destination. Unfortunately, things only got worse. Upon arriving at our campsite, we discovered the power cord that was supposed to be stored in the RV was missing. Because of the late hour, there were no stores open where we could purchase a replacement. As a result, the first night of our rental was spent sleeping in our vehicle instead of the RV we had paid for. The following day, someone from our group was able to bring us a power cord so we could finally use the RV. Once we had electricity and air conditioning, we attempted to shower, only to discover that the shower immediately backed up. This led us to realize that the gray tank had not been emptied from the previous rental. That evening, after significant rainfall, we returned to the RV and pulled down the bed only to find that the window above it had leaked badly enough to soak the mattress and all of our bedding. We also noticed the shower floor felt dangerously soft underfoot. When this concern was raised, we were simply told that “that’s just how the floors are in these things.” By day three, the issues continued. After returning to the RV from visiting friends, we were greeted by a strong propane odor. The smell was alarming enough that we shut off the propane system entirely for the remainder of the trip. Then came the black tank. When we initially checked the tank levels after discovering the gray tank issue, the black tank already showed half full before we had meaningfully used it. At the end of the trip, we connected to dump the tanks and found that the black tank would not properly empty. What should have been a simple process turned into nearly two hours of repeatedly filling, flushing, troubleshooting, and trying again before we could finally get the tank cleared. At that point, we could not return the RV fast enough. Throughout the rental, the owners repeatedly apologized for the condition of the RV and assured us multiple times that we would receive a full refund. We were also told that this would be the last rental for this RV, that it would be removed from the platform, and that they planned to get rid of it altogether. We were specifically asked not to leave a review. Two weeks later, the RV remains listed on Outdoorsy and has continued to be rented to other customers. It became clear that the promises made during and after our trip were simply an attempt to keep us satisfied long enough to avoid a negative review. After waiting two days, I followed up with Tiffany regarding the promised refund. She advised that she was on the phone with Outdoorsy waiting for a supervisor and stated that half of the payment was being refunded. When I asked about the remaining balance that we had repeatedly been promised, communication suddenly stopped. After another follow-up several days later, Tiffany responded defensively, accusing me of “coming at her” and claiming she had done everything she could. Shortly afterward, I received a call from Outdoorsy informing me that the owner had reported that I was repeatedly calling her. That statement was completely false. I never repeatedly called her. Our communication was conducted primarily through text messages. Instead of honoring the promises that had been made, the narrative suddenly shifted from “we will fully compensate you” to “there is nothing more we can do.” Let’s be clear: when a rental is materially different from what is advertised, lacks required equipment, contains multiple maintenance failures, has evidence of water damage, plumbing issues, propane concerns, and causes guests to lose use of the rental they paid for, refunding only a portion of the payment is not making things right. The most disappointing part of this entire experience was not the condition of the RV. It was being repeatedly promised a full refund, being asked not to leave a review, and then watching those promises disappear once the trip was over. If you’re looking for an RV that is accurately represented, properly maintained, and backed by an owner who follows through on what they say, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

4.0Great host, good trailer. The host was very helpful and accommodating with quick response times. We were renting the trailer on short notice and we were thrilled the host was ok with that. They even moved the trailer to a separate pick up spot for us due to weather concerns. Overall a great experience with the host; flexible and concenicious. The trailer left some things to be desired but it was mostly inconsequential; the range is rather small, problems with the screen door closing, missing keys to the lock the trailer, small cosmetic stuff. And for the great price these are not something that mattered to me. The most critical thing was that the awning was inoperable, which was a bummer but we had alternate cover. Overall a good experience. I would definitely book from this host again. I would book the trailer again if the awning worked.

5.0I was a little apprehensive at first about entering my CC information on the website before you are even guaranteed the rental, because everything is done thru the website and actual phone contact with anyone until they dropped off for us, but it was all really smooth.
