Visitors can easily access the lake through public access docks located on the north shore of the lake near the campground area. There is not a designated beach or swimming area at East Fork Lake, but you could dive into the lake from your boat in one area only, along the south shore of the lake where swimming is permitted.

Camping at East Fork Lake

Whether you plan to rough it out in a tent or rent a camper near East Fork Lake, the well-equipped campground in neighboring Newton is where you can park your vehicle. Sparks Lazy Acres Campground has 30 campsites and is equipped with pull-thru sites, big rig access, full hookups, 30 and 50 amp electric, sewer, water, and limited cell phone coverage. Restrooms are available for use, and there’s a designated pet area, so bring your furry friends along too. For recreation, you have access to fishing, boating, biking, and mini-golf in the area.

To camp in an RV near East Fork Lake, make your way to the Charley Brown Park in Flora. This campground also has 30 campsites and offers facilities like pull-thru sites, big rig access, tent camping, 30 amp electric, water, cell phone coverage, picnic tables, fire grills, restrooms, and showers. There’s a swimming pool for the kids to splash around in, along with a playground. This is a pet-friendly campground, so bring your four-legged friends along.

Exploring the Area

Richland County campers have so much to explore in the areas surrounding the lake. The city of Olney is just about three miles from East Fork Lake, and you could easily spend some time in the city before heading back. It’s a small city that’s big on outdoor recreation.

Visit the Olney City Park to meet the most popular occupants of Olney City, the white squirrels! Olney is known for its white squirrels that are very friendly. And while Olney City Park has an abundance of white squirrels, its also known for hosting a number of events in town, including the Richland County Fair in the month of July every year, the Olney Fall Festival and Arts and Crafts Festival in September, and the Cummins Municipal Band who has been performing in the park for the last 100 years in the summer months. So time your visit to the city to make it for one of these festivals.

If you happen to be taking an RV rental vacation between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, you’ll be in time for the Olney Christmas Light Display. It’s a wonderful experience to watch the dazzling light display of thousands of holiday lights made up in animated characters.

While you’re in the area, drive in your Richland County camper rental to one of the wineries, located on the outskirts of Olney. The Fox Creek Vineyards and the Berryville Vineyards both organize tours around their establishments, along with wine tasting sessions. It’s worth checking out, especially if you enjoy your wines.

Since you’re in the area, check out the other two smaller lakes close to Olney, the Vernor Lake and Borah Lake, both offering excellent fishing and boating opportunities as well.
