There are often gusty conditions at the park, making Carlyle Reservoir one of the most popular sites for sailing in the region, and sailors come from across the state to take advantage of the windy climate. The lake even features a sailboat marina where you can dock a boat. You may also want to cast a line into the lake's murky depths during your visit, and there are over 30 different species of fish in the reservoir, including channel catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, and many more.
Camping at Eldon Hazlet State Park
When you park your RV rental at Eldon Hazlet State Park, you'll be at one of the largest and best-known campgrounds in the vicinity. There are over 300 campsites on offer, each of which has electric hookups that provide 30/50 amp electrics. While there are no other hookups, toilets, and showers can be found on site. Back-in and pull-through campsites are available to campers. When you camp at Eldon Hazlet State Park, you can make the most of the great outdoors thanks to fire rings located around the campground.
Exploring the Area
Carlyle campers will want to venture out of the state park and visit the bustling metropolis that is St Louis. St Louis is full of exciting attractions, and one of its best-known landmarks is the Gateway Arch. Campers can visit the adjoining museum and learn about the area's history and the construction of the arch through a variety of artifacts and informational panels. If you're feeling adventurous, you can book a tram ride to the top of the arch. At over 600 feet tall, visitors will be treated to sublime views of St Louis' skyline and the Mississippi River.
