Harmonie State Park is located just 25 miles northwest of Evansville, IN, and is the reason that many people rent an RV in Posey County year after year. Getting Outdoors

Hiking is a popular activity in Harmonie State Park, and there are a variety of hiking trails to offer those camping with an RV in the area. Overall there are around 50 miles of trails to enjoy, taking you through a variety of landscapes, from rolling, open hills to deep ravines, meaning you can come back time and time again and try a new trail. Some trails are only a mile long, therefore perfect for those that don’t have much time, most of which will pass picnic areas.

Walking is not the only way to get around for those that have a rental motorhome at Harmonie State Park, as cycling is also extremely popular. Around the park is a ten-mile road cycle loop, with the perfect mix of hills and level stretches. There are also a number of marked bike lanes throughout the park for easy and scenic riding. For mountain bikers, the park contains 15 miles of forest single-track, with tracks for all skill levels.

Ideal for cooling off in the warmer months is the Olympic sized swimming pool. Whether you are an adult looking to get your laps in or a kid that just fancies a splash around, it is a great place for a day at the pool. Your day can be made even more fun by the large water slide, a smaller kiddie pool, snack bar, and plenty of deck chairs and picnic tables. The beautiful natural surroundings make it a lovely place for outdoor swimming, with all the amenities you need for an easy, comfortable trip.

Camping at Harmonie State Park

To have instant access to the park from the minute you wake up, stay in the state park RV campgrounds. The park has around 200 sites that have electric hookups and modern restrooms available. Many of the sites in the park are able to cater for large RVs, some of which are 65-foot pull-thru. Other amenities include hot showers, a dump station, and drinking water. Campers can really make the most of outdoor living thanks to the fire ring and cooking grill located at every site.

Another nearby option is Rest Up Camping and RV Corral, covering over 50 acres, and features full hookup RV sites with water, electric, and sewer facilities. All sites also have a fire ring and a picnic table. The campground is pretty unique as it has its own old west town of Westwood. You’ll feel the old west atmosphere ass soon as you enter the site. There is a huge range of activities on offer on-site such as a miniature golf course, playground, dance hall, and more.

Exploring the Area

There is a huge range of attractions in the towns surrounding Harmonie State Park, such as New Harmonie, Princeton, Mt Vernon, and Evansville. Camp in an RV near Evansville and pay a visit to the Dream Car Museum to see classic cars, movie cars, memorabilia, and more. This museum in Evansville should be on every car enthusiast bucket list, and if you see something you like, you can even take it home with you. Most of the items in the museum are available for purchase. The collection includes over 100 cars, 20 motorcycles, and over 500 other items such as signs and gas pumps.

Another great museum in the town is the Koch Family Children’s Museum, the ideal place to take the kids where they can learn and have fun at the same time. The museum is aimed at children between the ages of 0 and 12, with 20,000 square feet of interactive exhibits such as the Wet Deck, the Art Maker, Quack Factory, Kids World, and more. It is the perfect rainy day activity that will keep the whole family entertained for hours.

From Lake Victoria to the South American rainforest of Amazonia, you will completely forget that you are in Indiana at all.
