Cape Cod isn’t just a collection of seaside villages and historic cottages. Some of the best beaches in the Northeast can be found on this amazing peninsula, along with some special conservation areas, campgrounds, and state parks. Scusset Beach State Reservation is not only a great place to camp but an excellent place to explore on foot too. The park was once an important meeting ground for Native American tribes, and during WWII, it contained strategic military outposts and fortifications. Swimming and fishing are the main reason most visit this coastal park, but sitting around a campfire on the beach at night while gazing at the stars is worth the visit too.Ellisville Harbor State Park is found several miles north of Sandwich. Red pine forests and breathtaking beaches are what you can expect when you arrive at this magical spot. Go fishing, take a hike, comb the beach for marine treasures, and observe archaeological sites left behind by Native Americans over 3,000 years ago. South Cape Beach State Park has some beaches of its own, except this park faces out into the Atlantic Ocean in southern Cape Cod by Falmouth. The beach is a little bit more rustic, lacking the facilities of other larger state parks; but what it lacks in amenities and features, it surely makes up for with its stunning wetlands, towering sand dunes, and estuaries teeming with all sorts of marine life.Toward the tip of the peninsula by Provincetown, you can visit the crown jewel of Cape Cod. Cape Cod National Seashore has 40,000 acres of protected land by the sea, with magnificent bluffs providing unbeatable views of the Atlantic Ocean. Beneath the bluffs, you can find miles and miles of exquisite beaches, with migratory birds, piping plovers, and sea turtles laying their eggs. Camp out, swim, hike, or bike; there are a thousand ways to make the most of your visit to Cape Cod, and this enchanting seashore is one of the best things you can see.
There are lots of towns and villages you can visit when you rent an RV near Scusset Beach State Reservation Campground, but the easiest place to reach is Sandwich, found minutes away. Farmers markets, glass-blowing galleries, old churches, and wineries can be seen while passing through this inviting locale, and there are quite a few historical sites too. There is no shortage of antiquated houses and buildings to check out, like the Nye Family Homestead built back in 1678. Along with the Dexter Grist Mill and the Hoxie House, there are countless other homes built centuries ago before the United States was even a country.Heritage Museums & Gardens has 70 acres of botanical gardens you can stroll through, along with galleries dedicated to viewing art and learning about local history. The garden is absolutely stunning in the springtime, but you can stop by throughout the year and see old artifacts and antique cars, among other things. The Sandwich Glass Museum pays homage to the local glass blowing industry that has thrived for years thanks to the abundance of sand. The Boston and Sandwich Glass Blowing Company, in particular, is the focus of this intriguing space, with lots of glass blown masterpieces on display.Don’t forget to check out the Plymouth Rock Memorial when you book an RV in Barnstable County. This historically significant site is where the first pilgrims landed before they established the Massachusetts Bay Colony centuries ago.

What type of RV should I choose?
Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.
You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.
Do the RVs have bathrooms?
Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.
