The Great Outdoors

The “Land of Ten Thousand Lakes” is known not only for its numerous lakes, ponds, and waterways but also its spectacular scenery. From the beaches that line the lakes to the national forests and parks in the northern part of the state, Minnesota is an ideal place to rediscover your passion for camping in the great outdoors. When you rent an RV near Pipestone, Minnesota, a short drive is all it takes to reach one of many state parks or recreation areas that perfectly showcase the state's best traits. Blue Mounds State Park can be found to the south by the town of Luverne. There are a variety of reasons to visit this park, from the rocky cliffs that inspired the park’s name to the wild bison herd that remains the largest in the state. On top of that, there are scenic beaches, a lush campground, and lots of rock-climbing routes for experienced climbers.Close to Blue Mound State Park is Split Rock Creek State Park, a superb park situated on the shores of a human-made lake created by damming Split Rock Creek. The reservoir provides visitors with opportunities to go fishing, boating, birdwatching, hiking, swimming, or horseback riding on its nature trails. A small campground by the water’s edge can be utilized if you feel like staying an additional day with your campervan rental.Just over the border in South Dakota is where you can find Palisades State Park, one of the most well-known parks in the state. The billion-year-old Sioux quartzite rock formations lining the creek are dazzling natural landmarks often photographed by visitors. The King and Queen Rock in the park is the most captivating feature, great for rock climbing or bouldering.

City Attractions

The small city of Pipestone is conveniently located just a few minutes’ drive from the RV park, helping guests get their fill of city sightseeing without having to stray too far away. The Pipestone Historic District features a host of sites, like the county courthouse built in 1904, the masonic lodge, and an old hotel. All of the buildings were made using Sioux quartzite rocks gathered nearby. The Pipestone County Museum tells the story of the various expeditions to the area by early explorers, their interactions with the Sioux native people, and the crucial role played by the stone industry. The Pipestone Center for Performing Arts was once an opera house that featured renditions of classic operatic performances. Now, this carefully renovated space is used as a community art area, frequently hosting plays, musicals, concerts, and various other events.Arguably the county’s biggest attraction, Pipestone National Monument, should be part of any southern Minnesota camping trip. This unbelievable site is more than just a place to see divine waterfalls. The location was used for centuries by the Plains tribes of Native Americans to harvest rock by hand for the creation of ceremonial pipes. Onlookers can watch live demonstrations where talented individuals craft stone pipes from the pink mineral found in the park, and there is a lovely museum where visitors can learn all about the legacy of these tribes and the love they have for the sacred space.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
