Around an hour’s drive south of Mississippi's state capital, Jackson, is the peaceful town of Brookhaven. Brookhaven sits on what was once Choctaw indigenous tribal territory, and was named for Brookhaven, New York by its founder, Samuel Janye. The first railway into town was built in 1858 and brought with it improved trade access while enabling people to travel from Jackson to New Orleans, Louisiana. When the Civil War arrived, Union troops burned Brookhaven to the ground and even destroyed the train depot.

There are a wealth of exhibits and antique items to be seen, and an assortment of different special events like night time parties for adults held on site.

There aren’t an overwhelming number of upscale campgrounds and luxury RV parks in the area, but there are quite a few campgrounds, particularly in nearby Homochitto National Forest that cater to recreational vehicle campers. Clear Springs Campground has secluded, tranquil campsites in the thick of the woods where campers can enjoy peace and quiet. Excellent communication, very clean unit, well equipped and overall usefulness A+!!! The master bed is super comfy and the bunk beds were great as well. Setup, delivery and pickup was seamless! I would definitely recommend and rent again in the future!
