There are many hiking trails that circumnavigate Davis Lake, and one of those trails can be accessed directly from the onsite campgrounds. A two-mile-long trail meanders through the forest on the northside of the lake and provides access to many of the lake’s fishing piers.
Camping at Davis Lake
The most convenient campground to stay at while visiting Davis Lake is the Davis Lake Campground. This campground has amenities similar to those you’d find at a state park RV campground and is open all year long for guests, barring any extreme weather conditions. There are over 25 campsites at this campground that are RV compatible, many of which have electric and water hookups for increased convenience.
Exploring the Area
One of the closest towns to Davis Lake is New Houlka, which is almost directly west. This town is small and has a few gas stations and restaurants, but to find more modern attractions and conveniences, you’ll either want to head south to Houston or northeast to Tupelo. Houston is home to the Chickasaw County Heritage Museum, which is a fantastic place to learn about the local history in regard to both human and natural events.
