If you think this small town in northern New Mexico sounds familiar, you would be right. It claimed its infamous place in history as being the location where the atomic bomb was originally developed. Santa Fe, the state's capital, is the nearest large town, and lies around 30 miles to the southeast. The much larger city of Albuquerque, is around 100 miles to the southwest, and Carson National Forest is less than 65 miles north.
