This is a private estate on six acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The main house is a mansion built by George Vanderbilt II between 1889 and 1895. With over 170,000 square feet of living space, the house is one of the largest in the United States. The house is still owned by descendants of George Vanderbilt. This house is a perfect example of what was known as the Gilded Age. Architects often rank this house in the top ten for architectural excellence. Richard Morris Hunt, the architect, designed the home based on homes he and Vanderbilt had visited in France. The Biltmore Mansion is one of the most incredible sites to see with your family. The restaurant there is superb and it is definitely family friendly.

You have to stop at this old train depot for a burger. Deserts are great and the staff are wonderful. Great outdoor patio if you have your pup too.
