Cruise and explore the Pacific Northwest in the original quintessential adventure rig! This beloved van is named "Willie the Westy" he may be in his third decade, but he is well kept, clean, cool and better yet, mechanically reliable! Patrons will need to know how to operate a manual transmission, as this terrestrial exploration vehicle is a 4 speed. Please note this is a aging vehicle, he was not meant to set land-speed records and will comfortably do ~60 mph on your excursion. Let others pass you who are presumably bogged down with the sense of emergency which takes away from the experience of a journey. The van does have some modern touches, like a bluetooth radio, ample charging ports and LED overhead lights. Also, he does not have air conditioning or cruise control (all the better to really experience the drive!). For those that know, the view out of the front windscreen of a Vanagon is truly unique. What's includedLinens, 2 camping chairs, cookware, plates, cups and silverware for 4 people, coffee percolator, utensils, rotomolded cooler (will need to supply your own ice; cooler retains ice for about 5-7 days), roof cargo basket & tie-downs and camp tools. The van has an auxiliary battery with multiple 12v ports for charging phones, tablets etc. Also, the van will be full on propane to run the stove and/or the auxiliary propane supply for outdoor cooking. We do provide an extension cord and water hose for resupply (the van has 15 gallons of onboard water, which will be full upon rental).Available on request is a propane heater, additional camp chairs, outdoor folding table, outdoor stove, additional cooler, waterproof cargo bag for basket and kayak carrier for roof bars. RecommendationsPerfect for checking out national parks, the Pacific coast, campgrounds and dispersed camping on public lands. Please note, this van is two-wheel drive; some forest roads conditions will not allow for safe passage in this van. Check with local ranger station or trip reports on road conditions prior to heading out. Other things to noteDo not take this van on unimproved roads, snow or ice. Please note this is a vintage van, due care is needed when driving up and down terrain. Performance may be different than some may expect, nevertheless it will climb hills and drive comfortably as conditions permit. Operators will need to confirm that they are comfortable operating a manual transmission and will not operate the van outside of its performance capabilities prior to reservation being confirmed. Renters will also assume responsibilies for damages to the drivetrain if the manual transmission is operated incorrectly. Renters will also be responsible for all recreation passes and fees required (we can assist in information on where to obtain recreation passes for the various public places in the PNW). Any tickets or fines for non-compliance will be charged to reservation. We ask you to line out your itinerary for approval prior to renting. Also, we ask to keep your adventures within 500 miles of Portland, Oregon. No smoking or festivals are allowed. Pets are welcome with no fee (please keep Wille pristine, do not leave pets unattended in the van to avoid damages). We do ask you to keep up on cleanliness with supplied broom and supplies, if the van is returned excessively dirty, we may charge an additional cleaning fee. Lastly, we will provide the van with a full of fuel tank, we ask you to return it full. If any of these rules are not abided by, the security deposit will be placed hold for 30 days until remediation is reached. Renters will be responsible for damages, repairs and recovery if not abided to any of these rules!
