If you opt to stay in and around town, the downtown business district is a bustling city center benefitting from a bevy of wineries, breweries, cafes, shops, and restaurants with Southern comfort food and barbecue. Several buildings in town are designated historic landmarks on the National Register of Historic Places, like the Howard Junior High School, Prosperity Cemetery, and the Jacob Bedenbaugh House. The Jacob Bedenbaugh House was built around the time of the Civil War over 150 years ago and showcases old building styles.
