Oasis RV Resort

Northern Texas is full of wide-open spaces and dusty plains to explore, and if you want to experience a true Texan landscape, visit Palo Duro Canyon State Park. This park is situated just outside Amarillo and is well-known for being home to the second-largest canyon in the country. Palo Duro Canyon is ideal for exploration, with over 30 miles of trails suitable for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. Equestrians can even book a guided tour of the canyon. There's also a visitor center where you can learn more about the region's history, and there are a restaurant and a souvenir shop on the canyon floor. Discover some more the region's beautiful natural attractions and hop across the New Mexico state line to visit Ute Lake State Park. The park consists of plains and grassland surrounding Ute Lake, a 13-mile-long reservoir that's one of the longest lakes in New Mexico. It's the perfect place to cool off after trekking across Texas's arid landscape. The lake's calm water is superb for a variety of watersports, including fishing, boating, canoeing, and more. Anglers will be in paradise at this lake, too. It's one of the best spots for catching walleye in the state, and there's a variety of other fish, too, including crappie and largemouth bass. Amarillo campers looking for a place where they can escape the busy streets should stop by Southlawn Park. The park is an excellent place to bring your kids, as it features a large playground and a splash pad. There are also picnic areas by the playground in case you fancy some lunch while the kids play. If you're feeling competitive, you can challenge a family member to a game of tennis or basketball at the on-site athletic court.
