Goose Island State Park is across the bridge from Rockport and is great for those that want to canoe, kayak, geocache, or bird watch in the coastal wetlands. Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is a migratory waterfowl conservation site that gives refuge to birds on their long annual voyage. Matagorda Island National Wildlife Refuge is directly across the bay from Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and contains over 50,000 acres of stunning coastal wilderness.
