Sugar Land

This affluent and prosperous suburb of Houston is aptly named, as it was first developed as a sugar plantation. The original owners also grew corn and cotton in addition to sugarcane, and over the years the area also became home to the Imperial Sugar Company, which used the area for refining along with production. Vestiges of this history still exist in the many historic company houses, schools, and other municipal buildings that were built by the company in the early 20th century. Travel to, from, and close to Sugarland is easy, as the city is close to several US highways, an international airport, and has its own regional airport. You can rent an RV here to explore everything the local city has to offer, including sports venues, shopping districts, and dining options. This is a great area to visit at any time of year, as it has the same cool but temperate climate as Houston and other areas near the gulf coast.
