Incredible spring wildflower blooms, slot canyons, and some of the darkest night skies in Southern California. Free dispersed camping throughout most of the park.Joshua Tree National Park (about 2.5-3 hrs) — Otherworldly boulder fields and Joshua tree forests where the Mojave and Colorado deserts meet. Great for stargazing, rock scrambling, and sunset photos. Book campsites early, they fill fast.Julian and Cuyamaca Mountains (about 1 hr) — A quick escape to pine forests, apple pie, and cooler temps. Good shakedown trip if you're new to van travel.Big Sur / Highway 1 (about 6-7 hrs, or break it up) — For the ambitious, one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world. Pfeiffer Big Sur and Limekiln State Parks are stunning overnight stops.San Diego's own coastline — Don't discount staying local. Torrey Pines, La Jolla, and Coronado are worth a night or two before or after your bigger trip.Palomar Mountain (about 1.5 hrs) — Less crowded than Julian, with old-growth conifer forest and the famous Palomar Observatory nearby.Pro tip: shoulder seasons (March-May, October-November) are ideal for desert trips, with comfortable daytime temps and clear nights. Summer desert travel requires extra water and heat precautions.Have a specific trip in mind? 5.0Huge shoutout to James! Fantastic guy and very good communication from the start. Upon arrival the van was clean, staged and ready to go. It was a dream to rent and get an idea of “van life”. I’ve got nothing but good things to say and highly recommend renting from Go ADV/James!

Frequently asked questions
Q.
What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
My schedule is very flexible so I can accommodate just about any pickup or dropoff times that work for you!
Q.
Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
When you book a rental I'll provide a comprehensive guidebook and/or video tutorial that includes instructions on how to use everything in the van.
Q.
How does mileage work?
A.
Your rental includes 125 miles per day, calculated at the start and end of each rental, and then it's 50 cents per mile beyond that. So for a 10 day rental you'd get 1250 miles included for free, and then pay 50 cents per mile for any additional miles upon return. This charge helps offset additional maintenance costs for longer trips.
