Discover Lopez Island RV rentals for memorable road trips

Lopez Island is a small village that shares its name with the island it is found on. The island and town are named for Gonzalo López de Haro, a Spanish military officer thought to be the first European to reach the San Juan Islands. The local population sits at a few thousand permanent residents, but during summer times those numbers swell due to the island’s popularity as a vacation spot. Like any place in Washington state, this island is home to some pretty spectacular scenery, making it an ideal place to rent an RV.

The Great Outdoors

The San Juan Islands are full of enchanting parks, forests, and beaches just waiting to be discovered. Lopez Island itself has dedicated bicycle lanes throughout the entire island, connecting its many parks to one another. As soon as you get off the boat, you’ll pass by Odlin County Park on the main road heading towards town. Eighty acres of waterfront and 30 campsites are an open invitation for you to visit the park in your Lopez Island camper rental. Hiking along the seashore, swimming in the water, or fishing for dinner are fun ways to make the most of your stay. Iceberg Point is located at the southernmost tip of the island and can be a little tricky to find when you search for it in your Lopez Island RV rental. The reserve has excellent hikes on rocky seashores and you can even see Canada and the Olympic Mountains on clear days.

City Attractions

Lopez Island has a smaller population and cannot be considered a lively, bustling town. However, there are naturally some interesting things to do while you visit because it is a tourist haven in the summer. Shark Reef Sanctuary might technically fall under an outdoor attraction, but it is an amazing place to stare at the water and watch wildlife interact. Sharks, seals, whales, birds, and every kind of ocean animal you can think of might make an appearance at the sanctuary. Lopez Island Vineyard is one of the oldest in the region, and an awesome place to sample locally made wine.

We had such a wonderful experience with John! Fantastic communication and very courteous, friendly and helpful. The van drives great and has everything you could possibly need for a good camping experience. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well (I'm like the princess and the pea so this was a big deal for me). The bed was plenty enough space for 2 to sleep comfortably. You're not able to sit up in the bed while your in it so we hit our heads a few times, and getting in and out was occasionally challenging but wasn't a big deal. We still very much enjoyed our experience. The location for pick up was a 30 min drive from the airport without traffic but expect a longer drive during rush hour times. The being said, John was extremely accommodating and willing to do drop off at a closer location to the airport for us to save us on time. John was such a pleasure that we will definitely be using his vehicles the next time we're in the area. Five stars for sure!

Elise is a great host. She’s very knowledgable of the area, friendly, and helpful. The van was perfect. We loved it! It’s a great vehicle for touring the island. It’s also quite easy and fun to drive. No issues. The inside was clean, homey, and well-stocked. It’s got everything you need for a trip. We went to Salt Spring, Strathcona, and Tofino.
