Discover Lummi Island RV rentals for memorable road trips

Lummi Island is one of the most accessible of Puget Sound’s islands. A single ferry that departs from Gooseberry Point only takes a few minutes to traverse the channel between the island and the mainland. Once you’re there, you’ll find a bucolic artist community that feels a world away from some of the more tourist-heavy islands in the area. Book an RV in Lummi Island and you’ll have the chance to experience a real off-the-beaten-path island destination.

The Great Outdoors

As much of the island is private property, it can also be a bit challenging to find a wide variety of outdoor recreation when you get a camper rental in Lummi Island. The southern end of the island is completely forested, but it can be difficult to reach as no public roads access it. Instead, you’ll need to rent a kayak and paddle along the shoreline to reach the isolated stretch of wilderness. Once you’re there though, you’ll probably have the place to yourself.

RV Parks near Lummi Island

There are no RV parks on the island itself, but there are several on the mainland close by. Bellingham RV Park is one of the closest options, being just minutes from the ferry terminal. The park has full hookups, laundry facilities, a library, and complimentary coffee and cookies. Another option is Lighthouse by the Bay RV Resort, which is just a short drive up Interstate 5 and has some fantastic views of Puget Sound. The park has full hookups for your Lummi Island RV rental, showers, laundry facilities, and a rec room. If you were thinking about spending any time north of the border in Vancouver, this would be a convenient location for camping.

Exploring the Town of Lummi Island

While Lummi Island doesn’t have the tourist infrastructure that’s present on some of the nearby San Juan Islands, there’s still plenty to do here if you keep an open mind. If you’d like to get out on the water, consider chartering a sailboat or renting a kayak. While exploring in your RV rental can be a lot of fun, to really get to know the island you may want to switch over to two wheels; renting a bicycle is the perfect way to see Lummi Island.

John was very accommodating with my millions of inquiries prior to the trip and more during. It was our first time not just to drive an RV but to use it in camping as well and it was a great experience from start to finish. The rv was easy to drive and use, of course with the huge help of John explaining everything to us during walk-through. We had a very comfortable shelter while we experienced the beautiful outdoors. John is an amazing host. We will definitely book this again for our next camping trip. Thank you so much!

Faai was welcoming and easy to communicate with. Van was comfy, a little chilly as it was March but with all the extra provided bedding we were good! It was nice to have the city parking permit for the popular beach area.
