Recommended RV Campgrounds and Attractions around Puyallup, WA
Lake Pleasant RV Park provides a very comfortable place to stay while you explore Seattle and the surrounding region. The Park sites surround a lake filled with fish and waterfowl. Guests can enjoy watching the ducks and cranes, listen to the bullfrogs and enjoy our lawns and trees. The Park location is the perfect spot to jump off to wine tasting and dining in Woodinville or exploring Seattle attractions and museums. The Boeing Aircraft Factory - a must tour - is just up the road in Everett. We have wooded nature trails, a putting/chipping green, access to paved bike trails that go to downtown Seattle. Lake Pleasant is big rig friendly and it features paved interior roads, paved sites, and nature trails. The Park is a peaceful spot to relax in after spending a day exploring this corner of Washington. The Park also offers storage sites with electricity to park your rig while you take a cruise or fly out to destinations beyond. We do fill up in summer, so please book your site early. We welcome all rigs - big or small.
A museum is history, and the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum is a compelling combination of heritage life, historic record, and living history. Visitors can engage in historic dialogue with a variety of interpretive staff and volunteers in period clothing and an historic environment, with actors that are recreating life at a 19th century fur-trade post in the Pacific Northwest. This was the first European settlement in the region now known as Puget Sound, and was owned and operated by the Hudson?s Bay Company. The site is part of the larger regional park that encompasses most of scenic Point Defiance, and consists of many reconstructed buildings that were built from original foundations and plans. Visit at any time of year to see authentic, historic craftsmanship, skills demonstrations, and other interactive activities. The fort also hosts several special events that are relevant to the period and fun for everyone, like Queen Victoria?s Birthday and a 19th Century Christmas.
After you visit the space needle you must make a stop at the Chihuly garden to take in the color and creativity and imagination of this well known glass artist. There are indoor displays featuring portraits and Native American art, outdoor glass art combines with lovely botanical displays, and there?s a 40-foot tall glasshouse covering 4,500 square feet, with red, orange, yellow and amber colors.
You'll be camping within 25 acres of pristine evergreen forests. Have a picnic or enjoy a fire as you listen to the sounds of nature. Participate in one of the community events, where you can listen to bluegrass, watch a vintage trailer rally, and more. Camp in your RV rental in a wooded setting.
In this 111-acre camping park, you'll have a secluded, wooded area to park your RV, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of Fir and Maple woods as you sit by your campfire. There?s a 1/4 mile hike to the 3,400 foot shoreline of Rich Passage in Puget Sound, where you can swim, kayak or boat. You can explore the historical sites nearby, check out the Bremerton Navy exhibits, and you will be close enough to town. A great RV rental destination.
See where the Nisqually River and the Pacific Ocean meet, this delta is home to a variety of birds, fish, and other wildlife. Take part in bird watching tours, go on hikes that take you through wetlands teeming with life, be sure to take a walk on the Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk Trail which will offer amazing views of the scenery.
Stay in the midst of the rugged Pacific Northwest at Gig Harbor RV Resort. This stunning venue is only minutes away from many of the fjords, islands, and forests that make Seattle and Tacoma such popular travel destinations. The RV park itself is within minutes of Henderson Bay and Raft Island, and Point Defiance Park and Commencement Bay are just across the eastern strait. Plus the park is only a twenty minute drive from downtown Tacoma and an array of urban sights and activities. Guests can also relax on site with free WiFi, a playground, a laundry room, electrical hookups, cable TV access, a picnic area, restrooms, and a dump station. The park also hosts and helps organize workshops and educational programs intended with northwest coastal life in mind. Early June has a Painting and Varnishing Plywood Boats Workshop scheduled, and there?s also a Community Boat Restoration Program for Women held on every Thursday and Friday.
Seattle is home to more than 400 city parks, which encompass 10.2 percent of its land area. There are many to choose from, yet the most popular is perhaps Discovery Park which has 534 acres located on the shores of Puget Sound, it contains 11.81 miles of walking trails, and it is city?s largest public park. Bears and cougars have been sighted in this rugged terrain and on clear days you will be fortunate enough to have stunning views of Mt Rainier, a 14,411-foot glacier-encrusted volcano. This park offers urban dwellers a rich natural area to escape the city, but it is actually within city limits.
