This museum is filled with over 40 interactive exhibits for kids to learn, play, and engage with. Also in Stockton is the Haggin Museum and the Mexican Heritage Center & Gallery, both of which showcase local history in different ways. The Haggin Museum focuses on art, but also has exhibits about the local timeline and peoples. The Mexican Heritage Center explores Latino culture with a special emphasis on California and has many exhibits and artworks by local artists. For those of you that don’t want to drive to Stockton and would rather stick around the recreation area, head to Ione for a quick meal. In Ione, there are a few Mexican restaurants, as well as a pizza place and some American diners. After filling up on food and fuel in Ione, head to the Preston Castle Foundation that is just outside of town to see a Californian castle. The foundation holds varying hours throughout the week and year, so be sure to call ahead to ensure they are open before rounding off your trip with views from its tall towers and ramparts.
