Pull your boat behind your rental RV and have some fun on the water. Steamboat Lake State Park has a full-service marina and is open to boating from May to October, weather permitting. The 1,053-acre lake is situated in a valley and offers majestic mountain views. All watercraft entering the lake must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species. Visitors can have their watercraft inspected and stamped at the visitors' center, boat ramps, or by a park ranger anywhere within the park. Motorized and wind-powered motorcrafts must be registered with the visitors' center before entering the water. Pay attention when on the water; some areas have been restricted to wakeless boating only and are marked with buoys. When cross-country skiing at Steamboat Lake State Park, you'll also want to do some motorhome camping so you can thaw out at the end of the day in a toasty RV. You can even bring along your pets for the weekend as long as they remain under your control and on a leash. The trails that wind through the park make excellent ski trails and are maintained year-round. The winter trails are usually ready for skiers by late December through early April. Spend the weekend RV camping at Steamboat Lake State Park and hit one of the three hiking trails that meander throughout the park. The Tombstone Nature Trail is a self-guided loop trail spanning just over a mile that educates visitors with well-maintained plaques on the history of the area. The Willow Creek Trail gives hikes a fantastic view of the lake and connects to the marina. The Poverty Bar Trail connects to the Willow Creek Trail and teaches visitors about the mining history of the area.
