Waycross is a small college town, known as a doorway to the nearby Okefenokee Swamp. The architecture of this place is stunning, with many Spanish influences seen all across the downtown area. Visitors often start their tours at the Historic Rail Depot. This former Union Station is among the largest that are still around. The station was built in 1911 and used to be an important stop on the Atlantic Coast Line. Nowadays, it is frequented by curious people who want to take a peek inside this impressive building and be transported into the past thanks to the original interiors of the Union Station. Southern Forest World is another peculiar museum located in Waycross. It is focused on the forestry industry in this part of the United States. The exhibits showcase the early beginning of forestry, and the impact it had on colonial America. A separate section of the museum showcases modern techniques and their origins. The museum features numerous artifacts related to this branch of industry. Younger visitors are often mesmerized by a large locomotive train that was used for logging, as well as a hollow cypress tree they may climb into. The culinary scene here is decent, with many diners offering barbecues and smoked meat. Visitors who are in the mood for something else may find a couple of international restaurants close to the downtown area. Once your tour of Waycross comes to an end, stop at one of the gas stations and refill the tank of your rental RV. To simply put it, Georgia is a beautiful state with plenty of places to see. Should you wish to feel the Southern hospitality, head to Valdosta. The city is known for blooming azalea bushes that decorate almost every street, making this city look otherworldly.
