Often referred to as the “Jubilee City,” Daphne is a vibrant, family-friendly city with scenic landscapes and a rich history. The city got its nickname from the (usually) annual spectacle where shrimp, crabs, and other sea creatures, which are typically found farther out at sea, wash up toward the shores of Mobile Bay. When this happens, lucky visitors and residents get to go home with buckets filled with shrimp, crab, and other seafood they’d normally have to pay a pretty penny for. But the annual jubilee isn’t all that attracts people to this area. Though thriving and growing, the community manages to maintain its Southern charm and hospitality and retain that small-town vibe.
