There are plenty of destinations located near Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park that visitors can stop by at with their motorhome. In Phoenix, there’s the Phoenix Zoo. This zoo houses a variety of different animals, such as lions, tigers, prairie dogs, monkeys, sheep, and parrots. While here, guests could also partake in one of the many daily activities held here, like animal shows, giraffe encounters, and a stingray petting area. There are guided tours available of the grounds that give you a behind-the-scenes look into how the zoo operates.
Less than an hour away in Mesa is the Arizona Museum of Natural History. This museum is designed to teach museum-goers about the history and culture of America’s Southwest. It highlights different themes, such as archaeology, paleontology, and Native American culture. While here, you’ll be able to view fossils, woven blankets, sculptures, and photographs. In addition to this, the museum hosts numerous programs and events throughout the year, such as ancient pottery classes and fossil hunts.
In Tucson, visitors can stop by Saguaro National Park. This national park is best known for being home to thousands of saguaro cactuses as well as canyons filled with ancient petroglyphs. Visitors can hike through the park down one of its many trails, each of which varies in its scenery. Saguaro National Park is also known for being one of the best places in the area to view the sunset, especially at Gates Pass.
Head over to Prescott with your RV to check out the Sharlot Hall Museum. The museum was originally built in 1928 to be the state’s governor’s mansion. However, it has since been converted into an open-air destination designed to teach guests about the local area. While here, visitors can view exhibits filled with various types of artifacts. Sharlot Hall Museum also hosts a handful of events and festivals guests can attend, such as the Folk Arts Fair, Sharlot’s Wine Festival, and Folk Music Festival.
Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is situated near quite a few gas stations that are a short drive away. There is also a good selection of restaurants nearby, most of which serve comfort food. While here, visitors might also consider trying some local culinary specialties, like ranch fries, mesquite flour bread, and chimichangas.
