Seligman / Route 66 KOA

Camping at Seligman / Route 66 KOA puts you only half an hour's drive of the Grand Canyon Caverns in Peach Springs. Billed as the largest dry cavern in the United States, this subterranean chamber is reached by an elevator going down 21 stories beneath the earth's surface. Join one of the exploration tours that range from light walking to guided, two-hour off-trail (including a 25-minute wheelchair-accessible Short Tour) to marvel at rare crystals and better understand the cavern's 345 million years of geological history. Stunning blue-green waterfalls tumbling over rugged red cliffs greet you as you arrive at Havasu Falls about a 90-minute drive from Seligman/Route 66 KOA. Drive your rental RV to Hualapai Hilltop where you can leave your vehicle in the parking lot and start exploring from the Havasupai trailhead on foot or horseback. If you decide to do it on two legs, the first 1.5 miles is going to be a challenging hike, after which the trail levels somewhat until you reach the eight-mile mark at the Supai Village. After a much-needed rest here, the remaining two miles of trail follows deep red sand until the trail drops and Havasu Falls reveals itself in all its glory. This being Arizona, a visit to the crown jewel of the state's natural attractions – the Grand Canyon – is a must, or you risk feeling like you've seriously missed out. When you camp in an RV near Seligman, you’ll be less than two hours’ drive from the Grand Canyon Village, the most popular entrance to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Leave your campervan rental at the Village (or stay in their RV sites for several days) and take the Village Shuttle Bus (Blue Route) to access the Canyon Rim and Greenway trails. Canyon views are a short walk from the bus stops. For a journey on a historical road with scenic views, take the Hermit Road Bus (Red Route). If you are pushed for time but still want to see exceptional canyon vistas, the Kaibab Rim bus (Orange Route) gets you there. The Tusayan or Purple Route is most useful when you're visiting during the South Rim's busy months (early March to end of September). Many of the park’s tourists take the scheduled bus service from Flagstaff, so if you want less congestion, you might consider parking your RV rental in Tusayan (where lines are shorter) and take the shuttle going into the park.
