Getting Outdoors

Because there are so much lush woodland and the recreational area surrounding Antelope Lake, there are many places to hike. A favorite trail is the Antelope Lake Trail, with the trailhead located right before the dam. The trail covers ten miles overall and will take you through meadows and across creeks. It is especially popular with horse riders. Although some of the trail is through the meadow, much of the trail is through a forest, but nearer the end, it opens up and offers some spectacular views.

Camping at Antelope Lake

There are three campgrounds around Antelope Lake that are worth considering. Lone Rock campgrounds are set in a forested environment with scenic vistas as far as the eye can see. The site has both tent and RV facilities, many sites of which are adjacent to the lake. Table, fire rings with grills, vault toilets, and drinking water are all provided, making it a great place to go motorhome camping.

Exploring the area

There are a number of interesting museums within easy reaching distance of Antelope Lake such as Plumas County Museum. Located in the small town of Quincy, it is home to cultural, art, and technology exhibits that are rotated periodically. Collections include information on traditional crafts such as Maidu Indianan Basketry, as we as pioneer weaponry. Outside you'll find a small Blacksmith's shop and a mining cabin, and in the galleries, there are exhibitions from local artisans. Special events are held throughout the year, so this is worth checking before getting a Quincy camper rental.
