Discover Apple Valley RV rentals for memorable road trips

There haven’t been any apples in Apple Valley since a series of natural calamities wiped out the remaining tree groves in the mid-1940s. However, there are still lots of things to see and do in and around “the Apple of the Desert.” Apple Valley basically straddles the line between the bountiful San Bernardino Valley and the scenic Mojave Desert. So, the mid-size town is a great jumping-off point to explore both these areas. It all starts when you book an RV in Apple Valley.

The vast Mojave National Preserve is the third-largest park in the National Park system. The area has a very diverse climate. Some parts of the Park average less than three inches of rain a year; in the mountains, it’s more like ten inches a year. So, the Park has a wide range of natural beauty, from the Kelso sand dunes to the Cima Dome and the Marla Mountains. Be sure to take your Apple Valley rental RV close to the Joshua trees and the Kelso ghost town. Just down the road, you’ll find the Red Rock Canyon State Park. No two canyons or rock formations in this 27,000-acre park are the same. They all have different shapes and colors. That’s especially the case in the spring, when the wildflowers are in bloom. There are other signs of life in the desert as well, including roadrunners, squirrels, and other small mammals. Other activities include hiking and camping, as well as the chance to be alone and have some reflecting time. The Amboy Crater is between Barstow and Needles. Its steep sides rise far above the desert floor, and the flat top is a site to see. Scientists believe this extinct volcano is about 79,000 years old. Park your Apple Valley RV rental near the bottom, and then follow the trail to the top. Then, brag to the folks back home that you climbed a real volcano. There’s zero shade, so come prepared. After your climb, take advantage of facilities like picnic areas and large restrooms. Speaking of old things, you may also want to check out the Mojave Desert Petroglyphs. No one is exactly sure how old these cave drawings are or what they represent. Begin your exploration at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest . That’s the best place to learn more about these mysterious drawings. Then, enjoy the guided tour. Be sure to plan ahead. Part of the area is on a military base, so you’ll need security clearance. You’ll also need to leave your Apple Valley motorhome rental at one of the nearby parks.

Back in the day, the Mother Road went right through this area. So, it’s a good idea to check out the California Route 66 Museum in Victorville . This road was a pathway for both old-time pioneers and Great Depression-era travelers. All these people were looking for new lives, they all came through this part of California, and they all have stories to tell. The Museum celebrates all these things. The Route 66 museum remembers those who passed through, and the Victor Valley Museum celebrates the people who made this area their home. It’s a small museum that’s easy to see in a short period of time. Modern-day visitors in their Apple Valley motorhome rentals probably fit into one of these two categories as well. Whether you are just in town for a brief period or plan to stay for a season or even longer, the California High Desert is one of the most welcoming areas of the state.

What’s Unique

Apple Valley is both a place of natural beauty and a cultural crossroads. The Mojave Desert and surrounding mountains have sites that cannot be matched anywhere else. What’s Unique

Where to Park It

With everything the area has to offer, it’s no surprise that there are so many quality RV parks around. The Shady Oasis Kampground tops our list. It’s been welcoming Apple Valley RV rentals since the 1960s. Shady Oasis is well-known throughout the area for hosting a wide variety of special events. For something a little more upscale, try the Desert Willow RV Resort in Hesperia. There’s a large swimming pool and clubhouse to go along with a library, spa, and private showers. This resort has over 170 RV full hookup parking spots.

The Food

All those people who have passed through Apple Valley over the years have left their mark on the community. So, for a small town, there’s a diverse mixture of food. You can sample Chinese cuisine for lunch and enjoy some authentic Mexican food for dinner. All these dishes taste even better when you prepare them by hand in your own Apple Valley rental RV. So what are you waiting for? Explore Apple Valley today, and stay as long as you want.

The best part of the RV rental was how comfortable and convenient it made the entire trip. The RV was clean, well-equipped, and gave us the freedom to travel, relax, and enjoy our time without having to worry about constantly finding hotels. It truly felt like having a home on the road!

My family and I had such an amazing trip! The host was extremely helpful from start to end. This was me and my family's first time traveling in an RV. We definitely didn't know what to expect but the host made our trip smooth and easy. The RV was stocked with everything we needed, was very clean and the host was very knowledgeable and hospitable on pickup. We would definitely love to rent from them again and recommend their RV "Debbie" to others.
