You can arrive here by ferry from several different ports of origin, such as Dana Point, Newport Beach, and Long Beach. It has been a popular resort destination for years, attracting celebrities and politicians, along with other tourists. It has been a resort community for more than a century but has been inhabited for more than 7,000 years.

The Great Outdoors
Farnsworth Onshore State Marine Conservation Area is located on the western coast of Catalina Island. It is a government-managed area that allows for some recreational and commercial use; there is also an offshore marine conservation area, protecting ocean plant and animal life. Recreational fishing allows for the capture of pelagic finfish and white seabass by spearfishing, and marlin, tuna, and dolphin fish by trolling.

Exploring The City
There is a lot to see and do in Avalon and on Catalina Island. There are cruises, sailing, and water tours, most of which are conducted on large catamarans that can hold large groups of people. One tour has a climate-controlled cabin that sits below the surface as the boat cruises along, allowing guests to see the ocean environment first hand. Of course, there is also a zip line eco tour that has five lines cruising 600 feet above sea level. There is a four-hour off-roads tour to Cape Canyon in a Hummer that runs on biofuel. Most outdoor activities on the island will include informational sessions by knowledgeable tour guides about the island's ecology.

We booked Taffy Vegas same-day for a quick family trip and couldn’t believe how fast and helpful the response was. The owners didn’t just hand over the keys — they helped us secure a spot at Canyon RV Park right away, which saved us so much time and stress.
This little motor coach draws so much attention. People kept coming up to us asking where we got that “cool futuristic RV”! And they’re not wrong — it really does look sleek and kind of cosmic . It’s compact enough to maneuver easily (even in tighter spots), but still super comfortable inside. And really roomy
Even though it’s a 2022 unit, it honestly feels like new. Probably because of the super low mileage — it had under 15,000 miles when we took it out. And let me say this as someone who’s rented (and driven) a bunch of RVs: the floorplan is shockingly smart and efficient. Everything is where you expect it to be, and it just works.
If I ever end up buying a motorhome, I’m seriously going to look for a Vegas. This one made a big impression.

Booked the Redhawk for a few beach days with my four kids and our cat (yes, we’re a circus!! haha), and it was a total win. The RV felt roomy, clean, and honestly way easier to handle than I expected. The ladies made everything super clear before the trip — even sent tips late at night when I panicked over the fridge 🤦♀️. Cat settled in surprisingly fast. Kids loved the bunk beds. I loved the comfy main bed and the smart layout. This trip felt calm. Which, with four kids, is saying a lot. We'll definitely rent again — already eyeing San Onofre next. Thank you!
