Not to be confused with the nearby California town of Bucks Lake, Bucks Lake, was created in 1928 when the construction of Bucks Storage Dam was completed. The dam was built in part to create a source of water for the budding towns in the area and in part to supply electric power. In the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Bucks Lake is quiet and isolated. It’s a perfect destination at which to unplug and get away from it all.

RV camping at Bucks Lake is a time-honored tradition. Around a dozen campgrounds are scattered around the shores of the lake, each with its own little flair and varying level of service. Bucks Lake Camp and RV Park bills itself as an old-school campground. Each RV site has water hookups, a fire pit, and shade trees. Many sites have a waterfront view, too.
Exploring the Area
Though the town of Bucks Lake is tiny, with only about a dozen or so year-round residents, there’s still plenty of places to visit. Several neighboring towns hold events throughout the year. Hop into an RV rental and join in on the fun. Lake Almanor has held an annual craft fair since 2001, and it’s a fun way to explore the local artisans, unusual food, and other craft goods. Heart K Ranch near Taylorsville, CA, holds an annual Fall Celebration that draws thousands of visitors every year.
