Located in Southern California, Cleveland National Forest lies about an hour’s drive from Lake Elsinore and approximately 38 miles from Murrieta. The forest is 460,000 acres in size and was designated in 1908 by merging Trabuco National Reserve and San Jacinto National Reserve. The national forest is named in honor of Stephen Grover Cleveland, a former President of the United States. Located in three counties, namely San Diego, Orange, and Riverside, the forest landscape is dotted with seasonal waterfalls, chaparral, pines, and meadows.

Some sections of Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail and Sunrise Scenic Highway weave through Cleveland National Forest. The most popular ones include the San Diego Air & Space Museum, San Diego Automotive Museum, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum, and Fleet Science Center.
