Getting Outdoors

Don’t forget to pack those binoculars in your RV rental because Goose Lake is as much a home to wildlife as it is a destination for wildlife watchers. This is a great spot to catch a glimpse of the area’s diverse species of birds, including the lake’s namesake, which makes stops on migratory routes to bask in the water, as well as herons, cranes, and other waterfowl. The area is also popular with a large herd of mule deer that graze in the shaded, grassy expanse. Don’t be surprised if they walk right through your campsite. These animals are generally friendly with Goose Lake campers.

Camping at Goose Lake

A great way to make the most of your time at Goose Lake is to park your travel trailer here overnight during the camping season of May through October. The campground sits on the banks of the lake and offers 42 paved sites with 20 amp electrical hookups, as well as a large grassy area that accommodates six tent sites. Fire rings, picnic tables, and water are available at the sites. The campground also features basic amenities like hot showers, flush toilets, and an RV dump station, and you’ll be able to purchase firewood and ice if needed.

Exploring the Area

After you’ve enjoyed some warm, dry, sunny days and cool, clear starry nights camping at Goose Lake, hop in your campervan to seek out some of the area’s other recreational activities. The park provides an ideal base from which to explore other nearby attractions. Set a course for the Hart Mountain Wildlife Refuge or the 8,500-foot Warner Mountain range, located just east of the Goose Lake area.
