In Northern California, due east of San Jose (and pretty much halfway between San Jose and Yosemite National Park) sits Hilmar. It is not too far south of Modesto and just north of Great Valley Grasslands State Park along Route 165. You will be able to find quality RV rentals in Hilmar and if you’re planning to take a bit of a drive, you will have plenty of large forests and parks to explore.

Hilmar started out as a colony of Swedish immigrants in the early 20th century. When you rent an RV in this area, you can head south to San Luis National Wildlife Refuge near Los Banos for an afternoon. If you prefer something bigger, you can take a bit of a drive to Yosemite National Park. To the south of that, beyond Fresno sits Kings Canyon National Park and, just beyond that, Death Valley National Park.
