The Great Outdoors

June Lake is essentially an outdoor mecca nestled in the mountains of eastern California, beckoning adventurous people from all over the country. Whether you enjoy backcountry trekking, rock climbing, skiing, or fishing, there is a place for you within driving distance of June Lake. Inyo National Forest is a natural place to start, considering it surrounds June Park on all sides. The forest is loaded with natural landmarks, like Pahoa Island in Mono Lake, and Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States. This incredible forest is home to the world’s oldest trees too, with bristlecone trees thought to be thousands of years old. While Inyo National Forest holds the eastern slopes of Mount Whitney, the western slopes of the mountain fall in Sequoia National Park, another one of California’s epic parks. Sequoia National Park is named for the sequoia trees found throughout its forests, one of the two most massive species of tree on the planet. Together with Sequoia National Forest, the two entities make up well over a million and a half acres of pristine land in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There you can hike for days without seeing another person, or camp out in the comfort of your June Lake camper rental.

RV Parks

Camping areas are easy to come by in California, especially high up in the mountains that have become a heavily visited area. June Lake RV Park is found right in town, an easy place to reach when you pick up your June Lake RV rental by owner. There are no lakes within the park, but only a short walk is necessary to get to swimming areas, restaurants, shopping areas, and other useful places. There is a small fishing pond on-site as well as a BBQ pit and grilling area.

City Sightseeing

There are no real attractions in June Lake, due to its small size and remote location. The main features of June Lake lie beyond its city limits in the mountains and forests of eastern California. Aside from a few breweries, restaurants, shopping centers, and other local businesses, June Lake is mostly a hub for those exploring the great outdoors.

We went to Labor Day weekend with friends, we were 7 families over 5 tent sites. The only downside was that during the booking, we couldn't choose the sites, and I had to ask the front desk many times to remember to assign them together. There is one place where 5 sites are together, and they did it. I would consider upgrading the reservation system to choose the sites. We have experience with booking other camping, and there is an option to book specific sites. In general, the place is great. I like that there is electricity, water, and clean restrooms. The store could have more snacks /drinks available and be open later.

This was my second time staying at this resort and I will start by saying that the staff here has consistently been very helpful and friendly. Restroom facilities are nice and clean. Lots of cool amenities like a game room and pool, access to the lake. Weekends seem to be for the party crowd so it’s pretty noisy with lots of activity around the park. I noticed a lot of the sites are pretty uneven and very small unless you get a fifth wheel spot.
