If you want to get away from it all, and don?t mind spending some time dry camping, then Juniper Campground in Mount Diablo State Park may well be of interest. This site has none of the usual facilities, but is high up on the mountainside, with great views out across the country. The state park can accommodate RVs up to 20 feet in length, and there is room for 36 units at the Juniper Campground. Mount Diablo itself is famous for its views, and on a clear day you can see huge swathes of California from the top. The peak itself is 3,849 feet, and once you get up here, and after you have finished taking in the view, you can explore the visitor center, and find out about the park?s geology, ecosystems and cultural history. The observation deck, of course, highlights the fantastic views, and you can climb up the spiral stairway to reach this, and then look through the telescope.
