Founded in 1878, Silverado is located in the Santa Ana Mountains. There was a great deal of silver mining that took place during the latter part of the 19th century here. There are many remnants of these mining operations located throughout the area. If you have an interest, there are numerous sea life fossils that can be spotted through the sandstone cliffs in this area. When you book an RV in Silverado, you’ll be right on the cusp of some incredible natural surroundings, great scenic drives, and not too far away from Anaheim and downtown Los Angeles.
Silverado is a California Historical Landmark and while it is close to the major city of Los Angeles, it has maintained its small-town look and feel. It sits right on the edge of Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park near San Juan Capistrano and if you take a short drive down I-5, you can pick up Highway 74 and enjoy a nice drive with some amazing views through the forest. About an hour’s drive to the northeast sits Angeles National Forest, home to Big Bear Lake and Sugarloaf Mountain, which is great for skiing. Joshua Tree National Park is to the east of Palm Desert and Palm Springs and provides some amazing natural beauty and wonder. Canyon RV Park is located not too far away in Anaheim. It offers full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. The park also provides restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. It offers easy access from I-91 and there’s a lot of green space at this RV park.
There are numerous travel centers along Interstate 5, and also numerous Walmart Supercenters. Some of the Walmart stores may permit overnight parking, just be sure to ask permission if you plan to do this when you rent a motorhome in Silverado.
