The Great Outdoors

A motorhome rental in Bobcaygeon will place you in the Kawartha Lakes region. If you’re a fan of fishing, boating or swimming, you’re in luck. This part of Ontario is rich in waterways for you to explore when you rent an RV.

Drive your Bobcaygeon camper rental one hour north, and you’ll find yourself in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. One of southern Ontario’s largest parks, Kawartha Highlands offers endless miles of hiking trails and plenty of waterways for you to explore by kayak or canoe. Motorboats are permitted on most of the lakes, though not all, and you’ll find rich fishing grounds here to try and catch yourself some dinner. Unfortunately, the only camping permitted in the park is tent camping at backcountry sites reachable only by boat. You’ll need to park your luxury RV rental in Bobcaygeon or somewhere close by when it’s time to stop for the night.

As big as Kawartha Highlands is, though, Algonquin Provincial Park dwarfs it. A two-hour drive from Bobcaygeon, you could be forgiven for thinking you were thousands of miles from civilization in this sprawling wilderness. The park is home to spectacular wildlife, including moose and bears, and the lakes and rivers teem with fish. Hiking, swimming, and whitewater canoeing are big attractions in the summer. And in the winter, skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing are fun ways to spend a day or more in the Canadian wilderness. Some of Algonquin's many campgrounds will accommodate your Bobcaygeon travel trailer rental, and some even have showers and laundry facilities as well as electrical and water hookups. Reservations are recommended, especially during the busy summer season.

It may not always feel like it, but southern Ontario is one of the most densely populated areas of Canada, and so as well as pristine nature, there are plenty of cities worth exploring in your RV rental near Bobcaygeon. Toronto is Canada's cultural and financial capital and offers all you would expect from a city of its size. A longer drive east will take you to Ottawa, Canada’s capital city close to the border with the French-speaking province of Quebec. Or, for a city that still offers some of that laid-back cottage country charm, you could visit Barrie, just two hours from Bobcaygeon on the shores of Lake Simcoe.

RV Parks

Ontario's provincial parks offer an excellent way to get away from it all in your Bobcaygeon motorhome rental. But if you’re looking for something closer to town, there are a few options you could try.

Longer-term campers mostly occupy Bobcaygeon Fairgrounds, but it does have a few sites for shorter stays. Electrical and water hookups are offered, and there is a dump station. The site also has Wi-Fi. Best of all, it's a short walk from the center of Bobcaygeon, which makes it a great place to explore all that the town has to offer.

Bobcaygeon Beach Park becomes the heart of the small town in summer, but it also offers a campground. Full hookups and showers help to provide a comfortable stay. And you’ll be no more than a short walk from all the stores and restaurants Bobcaygeon has to offer.

In the neighboring town of Lindsay, Double M RV Resort has sites by the river with electrical and water hookups. There are also larger sites with full hookups available. The camp has a rec hall with pool and foosball tables, and they even have a yoga studio.

Exploring The City

Bobcaygeon’s laid-back beach vibe makes it a great place to explore. An RV trailer rental in Bobcaygeon lets you see all that the town has to offer. The town has its share of pizza restaurants and take out places, but if you’re in the mood for something a little more special, you could try one of the elegant restaurants on the waterfront that offer fresh local seafood.

Kawartha Settler’s Village is a popular attraction that offers guests a trip back in time. Twenty historic homes and buildings have been painstakingly restored to give a glimpse of the town’s pioneer origins. Depending on the time of your visit, you could also catch one of the village’s special events, such as the Halloween Haunted Village or the Craft Beer and Food Festival in August.

For more historical background, you could visit Lock 32 on the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. It's possible to get a permit to travel through this canal by boat too. But a simple stroll along the water's edge is a great way to spend a summer's evening.
