Located right on the shores of Lake Ontario, Hamlin Beach State Park is near Rochester and Brockport. Situated in Western New York, this 1,287-acre state park was established in 1929 and previously served as war camps for prisoners and labor hubs during World War II. Later on, Civilian Conservation Corps improved the park facilities, and its name changed from Northwest Beach Park to Hamlin Beach State Park.

One of the major highlights here is Devil’s Nose. This tree-covered bluff got its name from many shipwrecks that took place around the area over 200 years back. Lake Ontario State Parkway cuts through the park. With so many exciting outdoor recreations Hamlin Beach State Park should definitely be added to your RV destination bucket list. Biking, hiking, and fishing are some of the activities visitors can engage in. Book an RV in Rochester to experience the wild and wonderful outdoors.

Getting Outdoors

Once you’ve set up your motorhome rental, set out to see the park views by biking. While they are many bike-friendly paths inside the park, the trail along the shores of Lake Ontario is the most beautiful. For avid bikers, a section of the 518-mile Lake Ontario Seaway Trail is nearby.

Hiking is another popular activity when you camp at Hamlin Beach State Park. In total, the park offers seven miles of hiking trails. If you are into nature and birding Yanty Creek Nature Trail is your best choice. This self-guided nature trail takes visitors through the Yanty Creek Marshy Area, a wetland teeming with birdlife and turtles. With all the birdlife located here, you stand a chance to see waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds, just to mention a few.
