Wellandport is a small community in the Niagara Regional Municipality of Ontario Province. It was first settled in 1795 and grew thanks to the location right on the river which was used in the logging business. Timber was rafted and floated downriver to the various shoreline mills, but eventually, Wellandport built its own sawmill, and the town grew to include four hotels and a distillery.

The Great Outdoors
As Wellandport is just a few miles from Niagara Falls, we have to mention it first! Who hasn’t heard of the magnificent waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States? There are RV parks close enough to the falls that you can walk to view them or take public transport. However you get there, they are magnificent and taking one of the water-born tours really gives you a feel for their size and power.
RV Parks
Just a few miles from Wellandport when you rent an RV and close to Niagara Falls is the NET Camping Resort. The resort boasts two large swimming pools, a splash pad, and playgrounds. For a more leisurely activity, take one of their paddle boats onto the lake and enjoy a little fishing. With full hook-up, pull-thru sites, it’s a convenient location to start your vacation.
Exploring the City
On the eastern edge of the village, you’ll find Wellandport Community Park which runs along the shoreline of the Welland River. The park has few facilities but does offer a short hiking route and a boat ramp for launching canoes and small boats into the river.
