A few guidelines to keep everyone safe and the trailer in great shape for the next adventure:
Before you tow
- Confirm your tow vehicle's capacity meets or exceeds the trailer's loaded weight, and that you have a properly rated hitch, ball, and sway control.
- Double-check that the hitch is fully locked, safety chains are crossed, the breakaway cable is attached, and all lights (brake, turn, running) are working before pulling away.
- Walk around the trailer one final time: stabilizers up, steps in, doors locked, vents closed, awning secured, propane off, and all cabinets and the fridge latched.
On the road
- Keep speeds at or below 65 mph — slower in wind, rain, or steep grades. The trailer tows best between 55–65.
- Leave extra following distance. Braking and stopping take significantly longer with a trailer behind you.
- Take wide turns. Trailers track inside your tow vehicle's path, so swing out further than feels natural.
- Use lower gears on long descents to save your brakes — don't ride them down the pass.
No passengers, no pets, and no riders inside the trailer while it's moving. Ever.
At the campsite
- Level side-to-side first using leveling blocks, then chock the wheels before unhitching.
