Majestic mountains and breathtaking views make Eleven Mile State Park a great vacation destination for RV camping. Located only 11 miles south of Lake George, the park is home to the five-and-a-half-mile-long Eleven Mile Reservoir. Book an RV in Park County and head over to the park for a relaxing weekend.

Denver is about two hours north of the park and Colorado Springs sits just over an hour to the southeast. Head over to Canon City and check out Royal Gorge, one of the world's highest suspension bridges. Take your rental RV on an adventure and visit all three of these great cities while camping at Eleven Mile State Park.

Getting Outdoors

For those who love being outdoors, RV camping at Eleven Mile State Park is a wonderful way to unwind and relax. Anglers head to Eleven Mile State Park year-round to fish; the park even hosts several fishing tournaments throughout the year. Cabela's sponsors the Colorado Classic Ice Fishing Tournaments in January, February, and March. Plan to visit the park in May for the No Name Fishing Tournament or in September for the Fall Pike Fishing Event.

Camping at Eleven Mile State Park allows you to take your time hiking through the nearly five miles of trails in the Coyote Ridge/Backcountry area of the park. Self-guided tours of the Nature Trail and Orienteering Trail are a great way to enjoy the beauty of the park. Bikes are also allowed on the trails, so pack your bike in your RV rental.

The Eleven Mile Reservoir is a great place to bring your boat, kayak, or canoe and enjoy the cool, refreshing water. Swimming, wading, scuba diving, and water-skiing are prohibited, but kayaking, sailing, motor boating, and canoeing are allowed. There are boat ramps at Eleven Mile State Park and Spinney Mountain State Park.

Camping at Eleven Mile State Park

State park RV campgrounds are a great place to find peace and quiet. At Eleven Mile State Park, all campers must have reservations prior to entering the campgrounds. There are nine campgrounds set around the Eleven Mile Reservoir offering both full-hookup and primitive sites. No electrical hookups are available near the water. Restrooms are available within walking distance from each campsite.

If the unlikely event that you're unable to get a reservation at Eleven Mile State Park's 335 sites, check out Lake George Cabins and RV Park, just outside of Lake George. This RV park has 14 RV sites with 30 or 50-amp electric, water, and sewer. Public showers are available for campers. The park has daily, weekly, or monthly rates.

Camping with an RV is a great way to relax and bring some of the comforts from home with you. The M Lazy C Ranch offers RV campsites with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Bring your horse along for a weekend of horseback riding at the ranch. Horse pens are located behind each campsite.

Exploring the Area

Once you have explored Eleven Mile State Park, take a drive over to Royal Gorge, just west of Canon City or 35 miles from Eleven Mile State Park. One of the highest suspension bridges in the world is located here, and you can spend time strolling across the bridge over 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River. This is a great opportunity to take some awe-inspiring photos of the landscape surrounding the bridge.

Head over to downtown Cripple Creek, about 45 miles from Eleven Mile State Park. Camping at Eleven Mile State Park is a great experience, but stop in to learn more about Cripple Creek’s wild days, including gambling in the old saloon. The Old West brick buildings in downtown have been expertly restored and house nine modern casinos where you can gamble your cares away. Fantastic shops and restaurants can also be found in downtown Cripple Creek.

While in Cripple Creek, you'll want to visit the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine. This was one of the first mining claims in the Cripple Creek Gold Camp and is over 100 years old. While the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine is no longer in operation, the Cresson Gold Mine is still being mined and producing gold. You can take a guided tour of both mines.
