Often referred to as the “Main Street of the Rockies”, Frisco is a stunning alpine paradise high up in the mountains west of Denver, Colorado. This charming locality was once a booming mining town in the late 19th century but later remade itself into an elegant recreation destination nearly two miles up in the fabulous Rocky Mountains that bisect the state of Colorado.

It is difficult to select the perfect time of year to book an RV in Frisco because every season brings with it a bevy of amazing features. Frisco sits on Dillon Reservoir which serves as a popular boating, swimming, fishing, and water skiing haven in the warmer months, and in winter, millions of tourists pour into the mountain valley to the various mountain towns in the area like Dillon and Breckenridge to experience some of the world’s best downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Trendy shopping boutiques, fun brewpubs, and sensational wilderness make for a dream vacation in Colorado, especially if you take the Frisco motorhome rental out to do a little driving and sightseeing around the area.

Discover Frisco

Explore the Outdoors

When you book an RV rental in Frisco, there are too many beautiful forests, lakes, mountains, and parks to possibly see in one or even 20 trips to the area. It is no exaggeration to say that the wildflower-covered subalpine meadows and the glaciated peaks of the Rockies are natural works of art. The town of Frisco is situated on beautiful Dillon Reservoir which in and of itself is a famous natural feature you can enjoy while staying here. Places like Heaton Bay Campground and Peak One Campground are just outside of town and scenic places to camp with your Dillon RV rental by owner. Miles of scenic bicycle and walking trails circle the reservoir, especially at the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area where guests can sit on the sandy beaches and observe the sailboats floating by.

The town of Frisco is found within one of the state’s largest forests, the White River National Forest, a sprawling collection of wilderness areas and camping spots in the evergreen forests of the Rocky Mountains. With well over two million acres, the forest is among the most popular to visit in the country due to the exceptional ski resorts found within it. Arapahoe and Roosevelt National Forests can be found to the north of Frisco, and are equally impressive in their own right. Some of Colorado’s tallest peaks can be found in this stunning forest reserve, like Mount Evans and Grays Peak. There are tons of small campgrounds in these national forests for you to utilize when you rent an RV in Frisco.

Rocky Mountain National Park is visited by millions of guests each year who come to witness some of the most ethereal sights one can behold. The impossibly beautiful alpine lakes and frigid tundra ecosystems of the park are considered a world heritage site by UNESCO, and the mountains are great for climbing or just simply observing the scenery below. Backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are great ways to see the park in winter time, and several campgrounds are open all year round, making it easy to bring your Frisco camper rental for a little road trip up north.

RV Parks to Visit

As mentioned before, there are several places to camp within minutes of Frisco. Peak One Campground, Pine Cove Campground, and Heaton Bay Campground are places to stay along the lake, where fishing is a delight, and cooling off is easy after a dip in the water.

Gore Creek Campground is halfway between Frisco and the town of Vail. This bare-bones campground is great for “roughing it”, as it has no fancy amenities. Western Inn Motel & RV Park is a privately-owned campground where you can stay indoors, or stay in the convenient mobile lodging that your Frisco travel trailer rental provides. The park is situated about 30 miles south of Frisco. Tiger Run Resort offers amenities that include a game room, a pool, a hot tub and sauna, fishing ponds, hiking trails, and much more.

City Sightseeing

Frisco might be a mountain ski town first and foremost, but there are several attractions that await. The assortment of mountain peaks within a 20-minute drive of Frisco is absolutely unbelievable, and all offer tantalizing skiing and snowboarding opportunities through feet of fresh snowy powder. Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin are a few, though there are too many to name them all.

In town, you can enjoy happy hour at any of the bars and restaurants after a long day of skiing, or go shopping at the outlet mall. The Dillon Amphitheater in the neighboring town of Dillon is a wonderful venue for lots of big-name musical acts throughout the summer. The backdrop to the amphitheater is the magnificent Dillon Reservoir and the majestic Rocky Mountains behind it. The Frisco Historic Park & Museum is possibly the town’s best resource for those who seek to learn a thing or two while on vacation. The museum offers insight into the difficult lives of the miners who first moved to Frisco over 100 years ago, with exhibits and artifacts displaying their way of life.
