Rodman Reservoir, also known as Lake Ocklawaha, in Florida, was originally created in the 1960s to facilitate the construction of a canal that would have connected the Ocklawaha River to the Gulf of Mexico. However, due to environmental activists' efforts, President Nixon halted the construction. Since then, environmentalists and the state of Florida have been working to restore the natural balance of the river. The dam on Rodman Reservoir has been left intact for the foreseeable future.
