Getting Outdoors
The main recreational activity on Goat Rock Lake is fishing, and fishermen are spoiled for choice when it comes to what they can catch. There are various species of bass, plus bream, catfish, and crappie. Boat access is easy at Goat Rock Marina on the east side of the lake, where you’ll also find restrooms, a courtesy dock, and plenty of parking for your rental RV. The lake is usually very quiet, and you are unlikely to find many other boats on the water.
Camping at Goat Rock Lake
There are no camping sites available at Goat Rock Lake, but a few miles to the north is the Blanton Creek Campground on Lake Harding. The campground has around 50 sites, mostly with full-service hookups, plus there are restrooms with showers, a laundry facility, and several boat ramps. Each campsite also has a picnic table and a fire ring and is a great spot for RV camping near Goat Rock Lake.
Exploring the Area
There are several small communities around the lake, but for shopping and a choice of restaurants, it is probably best to head into Columbus, about 10-miles south.
