Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.
Lake Oliver is located on the Chattahoochee River in the city of Columbus in west-central Georgia. Considered a mecca for outdoor recreation, and a great spot for a motorhome camping trip, Lake Oliver also shares a shoreline with the state of Alabama, and attracts visitors from both states to its shores, especially during the summer months. While the Oliver Dam and Generating Plant created the lake in 1959, it was named after James McCoy Oliver, an executive at Georgia Power, at the time it was built. It’s a part of the Georgia Power lakes that also includes Lake Harding, Goat Rock Lake, and North Highlands Lake. The idea behind Lake Oliver was the supply of hydroelectric power and the supply of water to the city of Columbus.
