2019 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Life

We had an absolute blast taking this beautiful van for a quick ski trip to northern Michigan, it was perfect for our needs. The first night it was frigid cold but the webasto heater made us super comfy and cozy inside, at one point during the night we even had to lower down the heat, so yes you could take this puppy to the polar circle and still be warm and cozy. Can't wait for another round.

Owner was very accommodating and took the time to point out features of the van. Would definitely recommend!

Rented the van for a few days to get away from the city and it was perfect. We took an air mattress and managed to create a nice sleeping space for all 4 of us. When we were at our camp site for the night we kept mostly inside due to it being winter. There was ample room for us to hang out and not feel squished.

Surprisingly, the van is very easy to drive. The lights, outlets, and heat all worked well. Temperature control was tricky because of where we set up the bed. If you put a mattress in the space below the other mattress that area (due to being on the floor and the seats blocking the heat flow) will run considerably colder while the heat will directly hit the people on the top bed. We remedied this by turning the heat up, but cracking a window for the folks on the top bed and getting more blankets for the bottom mattress.

Pick up and drop off was simple. The owner made sure he gave us a good run through before we left. Any questions I had during the trip I just messaged him and he replied promptly. He was also understanding of unexpected delays. It was snowing heavily for part of our trip back so we got delayed by a few hours (which I thought would lead to late fees). He graciously told us to not worry about the time we get back, but to just drive safe. Drop off was simple since you just park and leave the keys.

I cannot emphasize how easy this trip was to coordinate. Staying in a van provides a unique opportunity where you are not tethered to one place. You can be as impulsive or as structured as you want, but still feel the comfort of sleeping in a bed. It was the perfect set up for us.

Van Life Chicago’s van is everything you could want in a converted van! Plenty of space, it’s comfortable and it’s very easy to drive. 10/10 would recommend!

Great experience in this van traveling from Chicago to Austin and back. The owners were very communicative and helped with a couple minor issues with the van along the way. It is well designed, comfortable and spacious to sleep and hold all your gear and food essentials. Would recommend to others for sure!

We had a wonderful experience with Van Life Chicago! Communication was great and the van itself was in excellent condition. The layout and design is well thought out and makes great use of limited space. We were camping in freezing temperatures with snow on the ground and the insulation and provided heater kept us plenty warm at night. Overall I would highly recommend this van for anyone wanting a taste of van life!
