Frequently Asked Questions

What are RV rentals?

Renting an RV lets you enjoy the flexibility of RV travel without all the costs and maintenance of ownership. With a rental, you can book the perfect rig for any trip just like you would a car or hotel. With Outdoorsy, you rent directly from the RV owner but get the backing of programs like roadside assistance, insurance, and stellar support from real, live people 24/7.

How much are average RV rentals?

On average, you can expect to pay between $75 and $150 per night to rent most small trailers and campervans. Larger trailers and motorhomes could cost $100 to $250 per night. Renting an RV for a longer time can be even more affordable–a week or month-long rental could average out to less than $60 per day.

Are there RV rentals with unlimited mileage?

Yes! Each RV owner can choose whether to offer unlimited miles on their vehicles. You’ll be able to see if unlimited mileage is an option on any listing you check out. If unlimited miles are not available, you’ll be able to see what is included with the base rate and what extra miles will cost.

Are RV rentals pet-friendly?

Many RV owners allow pets in their rentals. Be sure to check the listing to see if it’s an option for the rig you have your eye on. You’ll be able to see if there is an extra deposit or fee for pets before you request a booking.

Do RV rentals offer delivery?

Having an RV delivered to your home or destination is a great way to simplify your trip. Many RV owners offer delivery and setup services, usually for an extra fee or within a certain distance of their location. Each listing shows whether or not delivery is an option.

Are there RV rentals near me?

RV rentals are available all over the country! Whether you want to pick up an RV near home to set out an epic road trip or if you want to have one ready at your destination, you can search by location for any type of rig.

RV rental vs buying?

Renting an RV is an affordable way to get all the benefits of RV travel without the maintenance and overhead of ownership. It’s also a great way to try out the lifestyle and different types of rigs before you take the plunge and buy your own. Already own an RV? Consider renting yours out to bring in some extra income.

How many people can sleep in an RV?

Small travel trailers and campervans can usually sleep 2-4 people comfortably. Mid-size trailers and motorhomes usually sleep 4-8. Bigger rigs often sleep 6-10, some even 12!

Why choose Outdoorsy vs Craigslist or Airbnb?

Security, for one. Outdoorsy helps protect RV owners and renters with excellent support and insurance options, and a secure platform for listings, communication, and payments. There are plenty of other reasons though, like roadside assistance, detailed listings, and a wide variety of RVs to choose from.

Beware! They will take your deposit no matter what you do! Diane and the partner submitted a claim for the full deposit in order to cover small scratches and a chip on the headlight. We took great care of the car and were informed verbally by Diane when we returned the car that the outside was fine and "we took great care of the RV" (her words). She even drove us to the airport! Five days later we get hit with a $1,000 bill to repaint the entire car! Stay away, these guys are crooks. We would like to state our response for the record. Upon reading the small claim description on Outdoorsy and listening to Diane on the phone, we are certain the claim is fraudulent. We are writing our thoughts below and requested proof of the scratches (yes, we never even received a photo of said scratches) and chips for which we are blamed. We will submit a counterclaim with Outdoorsy, flag the transaction with the credit card company by submitting a claim against it, and submit and modify our reviews online to expose this. First, we remain firm in our statement that the car was not subject to the scratches and headlight chip Diane described on the call while in our possession. Second, we took detailed photos of the car, and, at pickup, it had large scratches and dents which we documented. The car's paint was faulty to begin with including dings of considerable size. Given the mileage of the vehicle and the few roads available to renters, we believe we used the car as intended by the rental contract and consistent with the instructions as likely used by other renters for tens of thousands of miles. Diane and the partner clearly do not paint the car after having it scratched by other renters. Third, by Diane's own account on the call, these scratches were presumably too minor to observe when she picked up the car. Diane said she had to wash the car to see them, yet the car was not so dirty as to hide scratches. Furthermore, we did not wash the car when we picked it up, by the same token we could not observe scratches of this magnitude at pickup. In either case, charging the full deposit for impossible to see scratches is dubious and appears to be insurance fraud. We will maintain this position with the insurance investigator if/when a claim will be filed. We disagree there is damage that requires insurance coverage. Fourth, all three of us remember Diane saying that the outside of the car is fine but that she may still inspect the inside and will let us know within 24 hours if she finds any damage on the inside. By Diane's own account the car was in great condition when returned. She inspected the outside while we moved our luggage inside and she drove us to the airport. Upon hearing this, and only upon hearing her confirmation I filled in the quantities of gas/propane/etc on the form and signed the document for the car delivery. This document had no written content by Diane. All three of us are witness to this. On the phone today, Diane claimed she stated the inside was fine but that the outside was to be checked. This is false. She walked around the car after we returned it, before we left.

Went around the island starting with the Wailea-Makena coast line and overnight stop in Laperouse Bay. Second day did the "Road to Hana" coast line and slept 30 min drive south of Hana in a State Park / Camp ground. Then did the round of the island from the southern coast line, stopped at a winery for lunch and went up to the top of Haleakala volcano/moutain for sunset views + slept overnight there. Finished with a day at the beach before dropping the van off and going to the airport. Great times !
